Spices of Nusantara at Bricks this Ramadan

Dining at Bricks Family Restaurant is a unique and amazing experience not only for fans of Lego but also for new fans to fall in love with the creative and colourful charm of a special Lego experience, widely woven into the dining experience.

Buffet Dinner in Bricks Family Restaurant

This Ramadan month, diners who arrive at Bricks from 6pm to 6.30pm will be welcomed into the restaurant by various Lego mascots with an opportunity to capture photograph souvenirs with them.

I am delighted to meet with the LEGO Explorer and soon learn that a different Lego mascot will make an appearance each day so diners can look forward to meeting with various Lego mascots when they dined at Bricks this month.

Nusantara this Ramadan

Later, while diners are enjoying their breaking-of-fast meal, the mascot will mingle with the diners and offer more opportunities to capture precious photo souvenirs.

Yes, masks are mandatory in the restaurant and from the set-up with cordons in front of the buffet lines, I see that Bricks is presenting their popular buffet with a Standard Operating Procedure where serving staff will help diners to retrieve items of their choice from the buffet.

It may take a little more time to be served but by exercising a little patience, I trust everyone will be served comfortably and safely.

A glance around the restaurant tells me that many families are dining in Bricks probably because the Spices of Nusantara Buffet Dinner comes with a special bonus of Free entry to experience the SEA LIFE Aquarium.

in the outdoor section of the buffet

It is always fun to dine in Bricks because the restaurant is decorated with Lego bricks, created in various designs at the buffet, both as signages and designs that stretch the imagination of Lego fans and enhances the entire dining experience.

I follow my nose to explore the outdoor section of the buffet where live-cooking stalls serve a range of breaking-of-fast staples like whole roasted lamb, Ikan Bakar (grilled fish) and of course, skewers of chicken and beef satay served with spicy peanut sauce.

To complement these local delights, there are also stalls that serve a choice of freshly made noodles, pasta and even sushi.

And it is hard to miss the Sushi Live stall because it is decorated with familiar Lego ninja figurines of Ninjago fame!

Back inside the restaurant, my eyes are riveted to the section for Seafood-on-Ice that serves whole plump prawns and oysters in half shells to savour with a selection of dip sauces.

At various sections of the buffet, diners are being served by staff for choices of cakes, pastries, and local kuih, as well as their pick of dishes and soups from the Asian and Western wings of the hot buffet.

The names of the dishes and gravies are handwritten on the transparent wall above each warmer dish, so diners can read and make their choices for the helpful staff to serve it to them.

Among the specialties are Beriani Bukhara Rice, Butter Prawns with curry leaves, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lemak Rebung (bamboo shoots braised in coconut milk), and Itik Salai (barbecued duck).

Pulling tea the traditional way
to make tasty Teh Tarik

Meanwhile at the drinks counter, I watch as a skillful staff pulled tea in the traditional way to create a frothy head for a mug of tasty Teh Tarik and set it on the tray for diners to help themselves to the tumblers and mugs of hot and cold beverages.

As diners enjoy their breaking-of-fast meal, the excitement goes up a notch at the sound of traditional Malay music.

I quickly join diners gathered around the stage to watch a traditional dance performance, a fitting live show to add to the festive mood and usher in the coming Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.
