Paint, palms and patriotism at PSR

Pulai Springs Resort (PSR) celebrated Malaysia Day this year by instilling the spirit of patriotism among students from a nearby kindergarten, Tabika Perpaduan Kangkar Pulai.

This was done through a recent event where students painted the national flag and added their palm prints onto a 20-meter “We Love Malaysia” banner spread out at the resort’s poolside.

Armed with painting tools like brushes, sponges and small cups filled with water, the 25 excited preschoolers were guided to add colour to the outlines of our national flag.

While some of the youngsters were squeamish about painting their palms, most of the children were thrilled to have their entire palms covered in paint to add their palm-prints on the “We Love Malaysia” section of the banner.

This activity was part of the resort’s corporate social responsibility programme to promote and enhance the spirit of patriotism and love for the nation among children at a young age.

“This is the first time our resort is organizing such an event and it’s great to see the children enjoying themselves at painting the giant Malaysia flag,” said Pulai Springs Resort general manager, Sunny Soo.

“We want the children to learn to love our country and believe that this event will instill in them some awareness, even at such a young age,” he added.

"We are honoured by the opportunity to join the resort in celebrating Malaysia Day and instilling the spirit of patriotism with our students,” said headmistress, Anita Sariff, adding that the preschool for students aged between 5 to 6, has been established for 10 years.

After refreshments, the children were each presented with a goodie bag filled with snacks and a mini jalur gemilang to commemorate Malaysia Day on Sept 16.  Also present at the event were members of the resort’s Sports & Welfare Committee and some associates from the resort.
