Good food at CHEFRecipe

CHEFRecipe, a café that serves Chinese and Western cuisine, is living up to its slogan, Nothing Brings People Together Like Good Food.

Ideally located close to the central concourse on Level One of Toppen Shopping Centre, CHEFRecipe is a popular choice with shoppers seeking a comfortable and casual café to take a break from shopping and enjoy a good meal or snack.

 

[That was what I did on my first visit (when the café was just opened). CHEFRecipe, was an ideal stop to take the weight off our feet, to indulge in an ice-cream on crispy waffle treat, to rest and rejuvenate before continuing with our shopping spree.]

 

This time when our group arrived at the café, it was not lunchtime yet.

But very soon the tables started to fill up, some with diners who chose to sit higher up in the private cubicles, created in an interesting mezzanine level within the café.

 

Just a few steps up a small staircase would lead to the wooden cubicles where diners could enjoy their meals with a bit of privacy, above the café’s main dining hall.

 

With artificial foliage widely featured in its décor, the café presents a cosy ambiance for dining in an indoor garden, complete with air-conditioned comfort.

 

Seafood Tom Yam Hot Pot

In addition to the menu choices of main course items, drinks and desserts with something for everyone, CHEFRecipe is a family-friendly café because they even provide a play area for the kids to have fun.

 

For easy ordering, the menu lists items – with photographs – from the best of both worlds in an East-meets-West concept.

 

My pick was a drink of Chilled Kopi, reminiscent of the kopitiam version, as well as Grilled Salmon, prepared in the café’s own recipe and presented with pretty plating.

 

Meanwhile, the others made their choices of Seafood Tom Yam Hot Pot to share among two or three of them, and popular picks like Pasta Grilled Chicken Aglio Olio, Mongolian Chicken with Rice, and Salmon with Mushroom on Spaghetti baked in Cheese White Sauce.

For drinks, they picked fresh fruit juices in choices of Longan Strawberry and Carrot Milk as well as favourties like Chilled Milo and Teh Tarik or frothy pulled tea.

 

To end our meal sweetly, we picked a variety of desserts to share. Chilled puree of Mango Sago was a top favourite along with a popular choice of scoops of Ice-Cream heaped on Toast.

 

Fortified by this meal, we set off into the mall again, ready to explore further and continue shopping.
