Flavours of Nusantara at Bricks, Legoland Hotel

This Ramadan, have a breaking-of-fast dinner with a difference.

Breaking-of-fast desserts at Bricks Family
Restaurant, Legoland Hotel Malaysia, Johor Baru

It was always fun to dine in Bricks Family Restaurant in Legoland Hotel because the restaurant is decorated with Lego bricks, created in various designs, both as signages and sculptures in the buffet arrangement, that meets the imagination of Lego fans.

Diners at this Ramadan buffet will also have the option to start this delightful dining experience with an exciting visit to SEALife Malaysia at only RM30 per person, with entry from 4pm to 6pm on the dine-in day.

This exciting Legoland experience continues in Bricks Family Restaurant where various Lego mascots will make an appearance and mingle with diners to give everyone the opportunity to capture photograph souvenirs with them.

A range of seafood presented on ice

My experience of the Flavours of Nusantara started from the entrance of the restaurant where team members, dressed in traditional costumes, ushered me in to be seated.

Heading towards the table, the helpful team member reminded me that live-action stalls were arranged on the outdoor terrace. From a glance through the glass-paneled walls, I saw much activity going on at the live stations to prepare the freshly-made dishes.

I liked the familiar feel of the restaurant where tables are covered with sheets of paper designed with fun activities along with crayons, provided for young diners to have fun while everyone enjoyed a leisurely buffet meal.

I wasted no time to explore the outdoor buffet where live-cooking stalls serve a range of breaking-of-fast staples like whole roasted lamb, Ikan Bakar (grilled fish) and of course, skewers of chicken and beef satay served with spicy peanut sauce.

A warm welcome into
Bricks Family Restaurant

To complement these local delights, there are also stalls that serve a choice of freshly made noodles, pasta and local snacks like apam balik, deep-fried banana as well as the ever-popular deep-fried durian rolls.

Inside the restaurant, my eyes were riveted to the Dessert counter that was festooned by trays of cakes, pastries, puddings and local kuih among various types of traditional lamps in its decor, with a miniature wooden Malay kampung house perched on top as its centerpiece.

There was a section for Seafood-on-Ice that serves whole plump prawns, flower crabs, scallops and mussels in half shells to savour with a selection of dip sauces, while a separate live-station serves freshly-made rolls of popia or spring rolls.

While there were choices of appetizers, ice-creams, cut fruits and traditional lemang and ketupat to savour with choices of beef or chicken rendang and serunding arranged on separate counters, I did not miss the comforting Bubur Lambuk, rice porridge in choices of beef or chicken, as well as the various dishes presented in the Asian and Western wings of the hot buffet.

It was good that the names of the dishes and gravies were written on label plaques next to each warmer dish, so diners can read and make their choices.

However, if I did not see a label for any item, I just asked the helpful staff so that I did not help myself to items that I may not like (and then wasted it).

The drinks counter presented a refreshing range of colourful, chilled drinks for diners to fill their tumblers and mugs with choices of cold beverages.

Traditional Malay dancers entertain during
the buffet dinner at Bricks Family Restaurant

While we were enjoying the breaking-of-fast meal, the sound of traditional Malay music bought our attention to the small stage where dancers stepped out to perform a traditional Malay dance.

The festive mood continued with music entertainment provided by an acoustic band playing familiar tunes that enhanced our enjoyable dining experience.
