The Johor Baru International Women’s Association (IWA) Christmas Charity Bazaar, the largest IWA fund-raiser for the year, is scheduled for Nov 21 from 10am to 8pm at Level 1 (Promo Area) Komtar JBCC Mall.

The IWA Christmas Bazaar 2015 is supported by Komtar JBCC and the funds raised would benefit the Puspanesam Home for underprivileged children in Ulu Tiram, and Johor Area Rehabilitation Organisation (JARO).

With their motto: Connecting, Caring and Contributing, the IWA has a role in the community and continues to be actively involved with helping the needy here.

“We are grateful for the partnership of Komtar JBCC for sponsoring the use of the space in their mall,” said IWA Social Coordinator, Anna Magyar, a Hungarian who has lived in JB for the past three years.

She urged shoppers to come to the bazaar with their Christmas shopping list because they have stalls that offer unique gifts, handicrafts, imported European jewellery, handbags and other knick-knacks and festive goodies that make ideal gifts this festive season.

In addition to the annual Christmas Charity Bazaar, IWA added two more fund-raising events to their calendar this year.

Last June, they held their inaugural Summer Bazaar followed by a Pub Quiz with proceeds that went towards the Puspanesam Home for underprivileged children.

The IWA is a non-profit charity organization established in May 1999 to organise fund-raising social events to contribute towards healthcare, education and other social needs in Johor Baru.

Since its inception, the IWA has raised funds to support various causes including the children’s welfare home in Saleng, the Rotary Dialysis Centre and several Tamil schools in Kulai.

Funds raised from recent Christmas Bazaars have benefited the Palliative Care Association of Johor Baru, the Berkat Children’s Home, the Breast Cancer Support Group Johor Baru and JARO.

The profit from their fund-raising events was contributed in material goods to the various charities and organisations.
