Sneak-peek into Pulai Springs Healthcare Centre

I was pleased to accept the invitation from Pulai Springs Resort to their Hari Raya Open House celebration not only as an annual tradition but also to get the latest update on their project to develop the Pulai Springs Healthcare Centre.

at the Pulai Springs Hari Raya Open House

As in previous years, the Open House event was hosted in Dewan Kencanapuri with live-cooking stations that served Hari Raya specialties, desserts and drinks.

Dressed in Baju Raya finery, General Manager Sunny Soo, and PR Communications Manager, Charlotte Monterio, warmly welcomed guests to the event and encouraged us to help ourselves to the buffet spread.

They were also quick to assure me that later, there will not only be an update on their Healthcare Centre project but guests who were keen to have a sneak peek, will also have the opportunity to visit the recently refurbished premises.

When I first learnt about their Healthcare project, I thought that it was a step in the right direction about an investment into the future of healthcare in this community, and looked forward to seeing this becoming a reality.

In the spirit of Hari Raya, the Open House event kicked off with live entertainment by a vocalist singing with a band who presented popular Raya songs, followed by a colourful performance by traditional dancers.

Night view of the new access road into
the Resort and the Healthcare Centre

When GM Sunny stepped up to give his welcome address, guests were reminded about the professional partnership between Pulai Springs and the Qualitas Medical Group that will manage the Healthcare Centre.

I am familiar with the facilities in Pulai Springs Resort and the work-in-progress to refurbish the former Golf Clubhouse into the Ambulatory Care Centre (ACC) of the Pulai Springs Healthcare Centre. This single-storey building structure will remain virtually unchanged to provide easy access and wheelchair friendly facilities.

Earlier on, I arrived at the Resort via the new access road that had a separate new road that led directly to the ACC lobby, designed for patients to enjoy convenient valet services as well as patient-relations services.

The brand-new Reception desk

I remembered the concept of the ACC which will be equipped with a fully-fledged Operating Theatre to perform procedures and will only have a few beds for day-care stays.

The ACC aims to provide a range of specialist medical treatments and procedures to outpatients, in medical emergencies as well as referrals to other medical specialists.

A brief update on the project was provided by Hj Kalamhamidi Abu Bakar, PhD, Director and Senior Principal of Perunding Mediconsult, the Advisor for QMC Sdn Bhd and Pulai Springs Healthcare Centre.

Soon after his presentation, guests were invited to visit the Healthcare Centre group-by-group, for a sneak peek of the premises and I did not hesitate to join.

While the façade of the building appeared to be brand new, the furnishings and fitting-out of equipment inside, was still in progress.

From the reception area to the consultation rooms and treatment rooms, we could visualize the medical services that will eventually be provided.

Thanks GM Sunny, for the sneak-peek into
the Pulai Springs Healthcare Centre

This included specialist consultations across multiple disciplines, general medical treatment as well as day-care surgeries and procedures.

The Centre will also be equipped with an on-site pharmacy, fully-equipped laboratory services, along with advanced imaging and diagnostic services.

This Healthcare Centre which is taking shape in Pulai Springs aims to provide comprehensive, high-quality outpatient services in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Fully-licensed by the Ministry of Health, it is scheduled to be fully-operational very soon.

A riot of colour in the LEGO Garden

This April, Legoland Malaysia unveiled its latest attraction, a floral paradise in the World’s First LEGO Flower Garden, proudly presented in LEGO Miniland.

I joined media friends, both local and from abroad, to witness this exciting unveiling of a LEGO Flower Garden intricately crafted with more than 792,000 bricks in a colourful display that feature 58 varieties of LEGO flowers. These include the LEGO Botanicals collection like Wildflower Bouquets, Sunflowers, Orchids, Bonsai Trees, Cherry Blossoms, just to name a few.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, it was good fun to be given the challenge to build a handmade LEGO flower – a thoughtful, one-of-a-kind gift built with love – to present to Mothers.

“We are thrilled to introduce this amazing new addition to our MINILAND area, marking another milestone on our journey to cement ourselves as the ultimate family-friendly destination in the region.

The LEGO Flower Garden is a work of art that highlights the endless creativity of LEGO bricks while creating an educational, immersive, and engaging experience.

We look forward to welcoming families, aspiring builders, nature lovers, and visitors to come learn, play, and be inspired by the wonders of both LEGO and nature,” said C S Lim, Vice President of LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort.

The LEGO Garden under the cool canopy

In the hot and humid tropical weather, it was good to explore Miniland – now comfortably covered by gigantic canopies – where the LEGO Flower Garden is arranged as the centerpiece.

We entered the Garden through a flower archway into a whimsical world where LEGO magic meets lush greenery, embraced in a seamless blend of real plants, artificial greenery and LEGO creations, created a dynamic and refreshing landscape.

It was delightful to encounter lifelike, picturesque scenes that feature LEGO creatures like brightly-coloured birds on the tree branches and in nests, red foxes in the grove and beautiful butterflies perched among the flora.

A leisurely stroll through the LEGO Garden reveals vibrant displays along with fun flower facts as well as surprise LEGO details hidden throughout the Garden.

There are also photo opportunities for visitors to strike a pose at the colourful Feature Wall or under the flower-festooned, domed gazebo.

Taking centerstage was a collection of larger-than-life, customised LEGO models of the Rafflesia, a species of which is the largest known individual flower in the world.

There is a Master Model Builder Workshop in the Garden where visitors will discover how to creatively repurpose old LEGO bricks into brand-new floral masterpieces, and learn hands-on LEGO building tips and tricks from the Master Model Builder and his team.

Whether it was transforming the wheels of an old LEGO car into petals of a blooming rose or turning forgotten pieces into a charming bonsai tree or a bright bouquet – the possibilities are endless.

Beyond the Garden, there are playful LEGO frogs and charming LEGO fishes scattered among LEGO water plants in a cool LEGO water feature.

It was a pleasure to get a sneak peek into this botanical wonderland, enjoy an in-depth tour complete with behind-the-scenes insights, join special LEGO Plant building workshops, capture photo opportunities and more.
