All are winners in the Legoland School Challenge

 

The fifth edition of the Legoland School Challenge, Asia’s largest interschool LEGO® building competition, organised in partnership with Malaysia’s Ministry of Education, received over 600 entries from schools in eight Asian countries.

Five years ago, the Legoland School Challenge started with participants from local schools and colleges.

 

Five years on, the School Challenge has grown from a local event to a South East Asian Regional competition that brought together young builders from six countries - Malaysia, India, Singapore, the Philippines, Hong Kong and China.

 

Teams in the Junior, Primary and Secondary categories showcased their creativity, imagination and technical skills in this year’s Lego building competition under the theme, ‘The Ultimate Theme Park Ride’.

Puteri Mini Makers from SK Cyberjaya, Selangor, were the champions in the Junior category, while The Mavericks from SK Kubang Kerian 3, Kelantan, took the Primary category title. In the Secondary category, AJHS BluBLOC from Ateneo de Manila Junior High School, Philippines, emerged victorious.

 

“We are pleased to see the LEGOLAND School Challenge continue to inspire young builders to push their creativity further each year. With a new theme for every edition, students are challenged to explore new ideas and bring their imagination to life through LEGO.

This year, we were especially encouraged to see how students interpreted the theme in their own unique ways, demonstrating creativity, problem-solving and teamwork,” said C S Lim, Vice President of LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort.

 

“At LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, learning can be an exciting and hands-on experience. Through LEGO building, children are encouraged to explore STEM concepts, test their ideas and learn from the building process, while developing the confidence to think creatively and approach challenges from varied perspectives,” he added.

 

Anchored in LEGO’s DNA of learning through play, the School Challenge gives students a way to explore STEAM concepts (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), build confidence, and express creativity while developing skills in teamwork, problem-solving and critical thinking.

This year, LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort once again partnered with global one-stop travel platform Trip.com to reward the competition’s best builders.

 

Lim was pleased that the top prize winners will not only receive a uniquely designed Lego trophy and Lego play sets, but they will also win Legoland trips and travel to Shanghai.

 

The Primary and Secondary category champions will enjoy an incredible trip to LEGOLAND® Shanghai, while the Junior category champion will have a trip to LEGOLAND® Malaysia, with curated travel arrangements and experiences.

 

All category champions will also receive a LEGOLAND Malaysia Annual Pass, an iconic LEGO® trophy, LEGO sets for each team member and a Certificate of Achievement, that recognises their creativity, teamwork and achievements throughout the competition.

Lim took the opportunity to thank the teachers, parents, the Ministry of Education, and the various agencies and sponsors who helped to make this event a success.

 

He also commended the panel of Judges who must have had a most difficult task to evaluate each Lego creation of the 15 finalists to rank them according to merit.

 

Lim however, declared that all participating teams were already winners in their own right for bravely completing the challenges in their competition journey.

 

In a video screening of the competition held the previous day, we learnt that points for the Lego building challenge were also garnered from a speed building challenge for the teams in each category to build a Lego dragon, a Lego trophy and a Lego bridge. This collection of creative Lego builds was on display at the Beginning.

 

The finalists’ creations will be on display at MINILAND, LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort until December 2026 for resort guests to enjoy a closer look at the creativity and imagination behind this year’s standout builds.

Junior Category (Ages 7–9):

●      2nd Place: Imagination Builders, Temple Hill International School, Philippines

●      3rd Place: Alpha Builders, SK Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur

●      4th Place: Sparkling Starlets, SK Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur

●      5th Place: CyberSparks, SK Cyberjaya, Selangor

 

Primary Category (Ages 10–12):

●      Champion: The Mavericks, SK Kubang Kerian 3, Kelantan

●      2nd Place: SKI Lego Brigade, SK Ibrahim, Kedah

●      3rd Place: 67 Bricks, SK Port Dickson Negeri Sembilan, Negeri Sembilan

●      4th Place: Brick Titan, SK Medini, Johor

●      5th Place: Aqua Riders, Temple Hill International School, Philippines

 

Secondary Category (Ages 13–17):

●      Champion: AJHS BluBLOC, Ateneo de Manila Junior High School, Philippines

●      2nd Place: King of Lego, Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah, Putrajaya

●      3rd Place: Four Blocks Ahead, SM SetiaBudi, Selangor

●      4th Place: Putera Armycorp, Maktab Tentera Diraja, Kuala Lumpur
