Announcing the Arrival: 1975 Avenue & Hotel

It had been a while since I heard about the two airplanes that were seen, parked within the property belonging to Tiong Nam Logistics Solutions, close to Jalan Kempas Lama.

Two redesigned airplanes will be the centerpiece
for 1975 Avenue & Hotel in Johor Baru

Well, two units of airplanes linked to a logistics company was nothing unusual.

But because they were not parked at the airport or in a hangar, I guessed something was afoot and patiently waited until all should be revealed.

My patience paid off in August 2022 when I received an invitation to a Press Conference that read: Tiong Nam Group is poised to launch a lifestyle hub with redesigned twin airplanes in the heart of Johor Baru dubbed, 1975 Avenue & Hotel.

The invite also provided details of the event to be held at Hard Rock Café Puteri Harbour and graced by Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi as Guest of Honour.

It was my pleasure to be part
of this exciting event

I quickly made the connection of this to a series of teaser ads posted on Facebook that hinted at a hotel that was coming soon to Johor Baru and did not hesitate to accept the invite where I should be privy to some very interesting information.

Ready for Take-Off

Dubbed the region’s most iconic world-class lifestyle destination, the 1975 Avenue & Hotel aspires to become the new epicenter of Iskandar Malaysia and aims to boost tourism in Johor, the southern gateway to neighbouring Singapore and Indonesia.

This airplane-themed lifestyle hub will be the first of its kind in the South that will offer visitors the exciting experience of staying in a hotel designed within an airplane.

I was welcomed into the event by this team
of stewards and stewardesses

The airplane theme was evident at the Press Conference as I was welcomed in by a team of stewards and stewardesses, dressed in smart, cream-coloured uniforms.

The project model of the Masterplan on display provided a clearer impression of the layout that will span across 14.9 acres, with the two Boeing 747 airplanes as the centerpiece, perched above landscaped gardens and a stunning man-made beach.

From the literature provided, I read that the 1975 Hotel, a low-rise building to be built between the two airplanes, will have 20 all-suites rooms tastefully furnished in 70’s vintage grandeur.

These rooms will complement the 18 posh hotel suites designed within the cabins of the two airplanes that were affectionately called Bove and Bey.

These unusual names piqued my curiosity and I made a mental note to ask during the Question & Answer time in the Press Conference.

When hotel General Manager, Kenneth Perreau, explained that the hotel ambience will offer guests the privilege to time-travel and return to a bygone era, he also declared that these experiences promised to be above and beyond expectations.

Ah! A light-bulb flashed in my mind as I came to the clever conclusion as to how they derived the names for the two airplanes, Bove and Bey.

The room categories in the Bove Wing and Bey Wing, will range from Premium Class to Business Class rooms with an ultimate accommodation experience within the Cockpit room.

In the hotel block, the rooms will also range from Premium Class to Business Class with its equivalent of a Presidential Suite in their Air Force One room.

Now Boarding

1975 Avenue, the commercial section, will comprise Food and Beverage outlets like cafés, bars and restaurants for a choice of casual dining and international dining options.

This space will feature a lively piazza with outlets that will stay open 24 hours in a landmark that never sleeps.

It will be designed with restaurants and cafes, indoor and outdoor event areas, a man-made beach, poolside café, bistro, pop-up and family-style restaurants, omakase and buffet restaurants, as well as rooftop entertainment outlets.

It was interesting to learn that a banquet hall in the commercial block will be dedicated to exclusively host banquets and events that are Halal.

This three-level commercial building along with the indoor and outdoor areas offer excellent leasing opportunities for local and international dining as well as lifestyle brands.
