Johor
towns and villages like Sri Gading, Tanjung Labuh, Parit Raja, Parit Sulong Pontian,
Pekan Nenas, and Rengit are familiar names and home to traditional recipes of local
dishes prepared for the breaking-of-fast at GBW Hotel.

Aware
that travel may be limited during this season, Chef Karim and his culinary team
are confident that these familiar dishes will not only tantalize their
tastebuds but also give diners that much longed-for comfort and taste of home.
The
team have put their heads together and drawn on their collective experience to
decide on the most popular recipes to create a menu of appetizers, main course
dishes to savour with steamed rice, live-cooking stations as well desserts, and
a choice of refreshing drinks.

After
all, there are more than 100 dishes in this generous spread to enjoy on every return
visit for the breaking-of-fast meal here throughout the month.
For
a start, the café observes the Standard Operating Procedures and provides
disposable gloves for diners to wear while they handle common serving spoons
and tongs in the buffet.
In
the Appetizer section the buffet begins with a choice of preserved dates and a
range of mixed, mouth-watering salads like types of local Kerabu made
with pineapple, radish and mango.

There
are also choices of local crisps like keropok and kerepek as well
as pickled fruits to whet the appetite for more food from the hot buffet.
The
daily menu served in the hot buffet is made up of dishes prepared with chicken,
squid, cockles, fish, eggs, and oxtail, as well as vegetables like sweet potato
leaves, petai beans and bamboo shoots, and fruits like pineapple.
Familiar
dishes in the hot buffet are fondly recognised by their place of origin as in Ayam
Rendang Sri Gading and Oxtail Assam Tanjung Labuh.

As diners help themselves to the dishes from the hot buffet, the culinary staff are keeping a close watch to ensure that dishes are swiftly replenished and ready to serve diners who are returning to the buffet for more.

Other
stalls serve Roti John, Murtabak, and Roti Jala or net bread to savour with the
gravies while Goreng-Goreng serves deep-fried items like fried banana, fried
sweet potato and cha-kway Meldrum topped with Chocolate Rice and Cheese
shavings.

The
eye-catching, colourful array of cakes, tarts, rolls and pastries are designed
to tempt while an assortment of local kuih and sweet broths vie for equal
attention.
To
end the meal sweetly, there is a choice from Pulut Serawa Durian, Bubur Jagung, Bubur
Pulut Hitam, Bubur Cha Cha to shaved ice ABC-Cendol Durian, a choice of ice-cream
flavours and fresh cut fruits, to choose from.
There
is also a range of hot beverages like Coffee, Tea, Milo and Teh Tarik or
pulled tea, and refreshing cold drinks from the buffet.

Ramadan Dinner Buffet is served daily from 6.30pm to 9.30pm at D’ Meldrum Café
on the lobby level of the hotel from now to May 11, 2021.
Rate
at RM92 nett per adult and RM45 nett per child aged six to 12 years and seniors
aged above 60 years.
